gymnastics camp

This week is spring break for area schools, and so the schedule at the gym is all mixed up. Instead of regular classes, there are camps 9 - 3.

Today we had 17 kids between the ages of 4 and 12. I was one of three coaches. There were only two boys, and they were both in the youngest group. So, as the only male coach, I chose to work with the 4s and 5s.

And they are incredibly cute. Six amazing little ones who have absolute trust that they can do anything I tell them to, that everything is safe. Sometimes they're not very good at listening if we try to do real gymnastics. So we don't practice gymnastics. We play gymnastics. I found creative ways to make everything a game. And when it's a game, they might even be willing to stand nicely in line and wait their turn!

Plus, there's hardly anything more fun than the laughter and squeals of delight when you toss a little girl through the air and she flips and lands safely on a nice, fluffy mat.
