D.C.

Last weekend I visited friends in our nations capitol.

We walked around the Washington Monument, and through the temples of Lincoln and Jefferson. The pyramids of Giza have stood for four thousand years. What will be left of our civilization, should the earth last another four millenia?
If the written record what destroyed, what would the archaeologists "discover" about us?

It is also interesting to not the stark difference between the atmosphere surrounding the Vietnam and Korean memorials, and the WWII memorial. We morn soldiers lost in our defeats, but celebrate the wars we win, seeming to ignore the cost.

Visiting the WWII memorial and the holocaust museum in the same day gives very different pictures of the same set of events.
