Many times the statistics we hear are astounding, because the only statistics worth hearing are the astounding ones.  Everything else is just boring.

Forgive me.  That's an oversimplification.  Even boring statistics or expected ones can be useful.

Here's an astounding statistic:  The median sales price of a house in Detroit in the month of December was $7,500.
